Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Midnight Navy” Japanese Exclusive Set for Global Release

Air Jordan 1s have long since been a staple in the sneaker community, so it only makes sense that Nike and Jordan brand release a new colorway to reel in more profit. Rather than build a new colorway from scratch, the brands are doing it strategically by re-releasing the Japanese exclusive Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Midnight Navy” to the rest of the world (after 20 years).

Scheduled to release on November 14th, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Midnight Navy” saw an early release on the SNKRS app on November 9th (it was offered only to select customers). The sneaker itself is made up of a relaxed, elegant colorway. The base features bright white undertones that are supported by a midnight navy overlay, which is made up of suede. Navy blue laces find themselves on the tongue, tying together the contrasting colors of the sneaker. The Nike Air logo and lettering is just above the laces, also taking on midnight navy. The Nike swoosh spices things up with metallic silver, matching the winged Air Jordan logo of the same color. This all sits atop a white midsole that’s supported by a navy blue outsole to match the base.

Although the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Midnight Navy” features a rather simple design, it is still a pristine colorway, being made up of premium materials and bruting colors. The silver accents help complement the rest of the sneaker, standing out from the other colors in order to draw eyes.

The sneaker saw a release in Europe earlier this year (and, in Japan, way back when), and is now coming around to the states with a price tag of $170 USD. The shoe’s re-release, following its former exclusivity, seems to be a trend from Nike; the brand also did a global release of the Nike Dunk Low “Veneer” following 19 years of only being in Japan. Rather than having to build hype around a sneaker, the work is already done when re-releasing an already exclusive and popular sneaker to the rest of the world—it practically markets itself. Hopefully, this results in sales for the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Midnight Navy.”
