Alicia Keys Shows Her True Self On ‘ALICIA’

alicia keys new album

Alicia Keys has long since cemented her spot in the music scene—who could forget her R&B reign during the 2000s. During her initial run, she released tracks such as “You Don’t Know My Name” and “No One,” which swept listeners off their feet. Now, she’s returned once again, opening up on her new album ALICIA.

Released on September 18th, this is Alicia Keys’ seventh studio album (her last album, HERE, released back in 2016). Four years later, Keys is finally able to express her rawest self, being in tune with articulating her emotions and “feel[ing] like I have, for the first time, been fully myself now.” She takes some pressure off of herself by letting the real Alicia express herself on the album. She performs with her groundbreaking vocals, which still find themselves to be expressive and booming despite her lengthy career.

ALICIA consists of 15 tracks and features artists such as Tierra Whack, Khalid, Jill Scott, and more. It’s nice to see her work with R&B artists from different generations, allowing the sound to be more diverse and incorporative of ideas that many new fans might like.
