The 2010s were an amazing decade for both music and fashion. As far as music, we saw the rise of stars such as Olivia Rodrigo, SZA and, most notably, Billie Eilish. On the sneaker side of things, Nike’s Air Force 1 saw a major resurgence in popularity alongside Dunks, Jordan 1s, and other popular kicks. As the new decade trudges on, Eilish is teaming up with Nike to capitalize on both her success as well as the success of the Air Force 1.
Eilish has left her mark on sneakers in the past, as seen with her Air Jordan collaboration revealed earlier this year. For her latest venture, the Los Angeles singer-songwriter has dressed the Air Force 1 High ‘07 SP in a strap-studded “Mushroom” colorway.
This “Mushroom” colorway features a beige upper completely made of suede. The aforementioned straps are locked into the shoe by velcro, allowing the wearer easy access when wanting to get the shoes on or off. The straps run from the top of the tongue to the tip of the toe, shielding the laces along the way. It also partially blocks the swoosh when strapped down, providing an imposing presence that doesn’t take away from the design as much as it enhances it. This all sits atop a cream-beige midsole.
Personally, I am a fan of Billie Eilish’s “Mushroom” Air Force 1. Although, at first glance, the straps might throw the onlooker off, I feel that’s kind of her point. Considering Eilish saw a load of positive pushback during the loud and brash stages of her career, this could very well be a repeat of that same tactic.
If you want to get your hands on the upcoming Billie Eilish x Nike Air Force 1 High ‘07 SP “Mushroom,” make sure to be on the lookout during 2022. If I had to guess, I’d say the drop is going to happen earlier in the year. As more information comes, the price will surely be revealed.
