Gatorade Is Teaming Up With Nike For A PG 4 Collab!

Nike-&-Gatorade-Sneaker

The Nike PG 4 was just revealed and a new collaboration is already on the way! Paul George unveiled the original silhouette after a win against the New York Knicks on January 5th, and Nike’s designer for the Clippers Tony Hardman quickly announced that Gatorade and Nike are teaming up to release a new rendition of the PG 4.

This latest rendition of the Nike PG 4 features a dark base filled with indigo bubbles throughout. This adds a nice flair to the sneaker, which is complemented by a blue midsole. The blue midsole is backed by lime green lining, also seen on the ankle’s pull tab. The same shade of blue is also seen on the Nike swoosh, the zipper of the tongue, and the side accents of the shoe. The zipper, which is seen on all silhouettes of the PG 4, hides a pair of orange laces that have the same shade as the Gatorade logo above them. The Gatorade takes a seat on the upper tongue right below the pull tab and gives the sneaker a nice pop, shining amongst the black base and blue accents. This collaboration between Nike and Gatorade is definitely an exciting one, but this sneaker honestly is not the best.

This new Gatorade x Nike PG 4 would be such a better sneaker if the indigo bubble accents were removed. The dark base would be able to shine more amongst the other blue accents, the Gatorade logo would attract more eyes, and the colorway wouldn’t have as much of a “kid” element. There is no doubt that this new colorway looks like a child’s shoe, which is only made worse by the lime green lining among the blue sole. This doesn’t necessarily mean it’s terrible; with a few minor tweaks, this would be a collaboration for the books. It feels as if Gatorade and Nike could have done a better job on their latest collaboration, and this may mean sales could be lackluster.

If you plan on copping this latest rendition of the PG 4, you’ll be in the dark for some time (the release date has yet to be revealed along with the retail price). Hopefully, these kicks aren’t too expensive, but considering they’re a collaboration between two sports titans, there is no telling how much they will be.
