2020 was full of leaps and bounds for fashion—remember when Jordan brand dropped its new Jordan 11 “Adapt” showcasing a ton of Nike Adapt technology? How about when Nike and Stüssy came together for new kicks? Now that Gucci and The North Face have revealed pieces from an upcoming collaboration collection, it seems as if this trend of leaps and bounds is set to continue in 2021.
Initially revealed back in September 2020, Gucci and The North Face’s partnership was teased through a simple social media video revealing a co-branded flag. While nothing was revealed in the first teaser video, the two have put a foot on the gas, releasing a short promotional film by Daniel Shea titled #TheNorthFaxexGucci. In the short film, various models are seen rocking pieces from the upcoming collaboration. Inspired by the style of the 1970s, Shea aims to capture the vintage aesthetic of the partnership with far, soft-toned shots, which help further accentuate the pieces.
Set to arrive on January 22nd, the wait for this collab is understandable with the amount of pieces featured. There are a number of different pieces, ranging from puffer jackets to hiking boots. The hiking boots come in multiple colors, with a solid base being the canvas for the rest of the boot, featuring a fused co-branded logo on the tongue tab and side. The boots come in brown and black, offering the best of both worlds to customers. As for the rest of the collaboration, there are a host of t-shirts and jackets, all inspired by the style of the ‘70s with loud, flamboyant color palettes as well as design choices. Some notable pieces include co-branded, semi all-over print handbags, a sleeping bag dressed in branding, and puffer jackets that come in a multitude of colors.
Gucci and The North Face is a collaboration that many would not have expected before 2020, as the two brands are on different sides of the fashion spectrum. This collaboration has turned out to be a sight to behold, though, as there are a number of new pieces that push the boundaries of their partnership. Prices have not yet been revealed, but we can expect them to be somewhat steep due to the quality of the pieces, as well as the notoriety of both brands. With that being said, make sure to keep your wallet hefty in time for January 22nd.
