The North Face has always been a brand that gets the most out of their collaborations, teaming up with other brands such as Vans and Supreme. Gucci, on the other hand, has not dabbled much in the way of collaborations. Seeing how different the brands are with their collab philosophies, it’s interesting to see that both have teased an upcoming collaboration.
In late September, the collaboration was announced by Gucci through TikTok. They uploaded a video to the app, going through nature briefly before focusing on a Gucci x The North Face flag flying in the wind. The flag features a white base and The North Face branding in brown. Golden Gucci lettering is seen below the branding, with Gucci’s signature colors of red and green on the bottom of The North Face logo.
While the collaboration has been announced, not much information has been revealed. A release date has not been teased, but we do know that it’s coming sometime in the next few months. In an email to GQ, a Gucci representative said “We can only confirm that Gucci and The North Face will be bringing a collection to life in the coming months that celebrates the rich heritage of both brands.” With the mention of the heritage of both brands, hopefully the collection features designs that dip into the vintage archives of Gucci and The North Face.
This is the first time Gucci designer Alessandro Michele has collaborated with a brand, so hopefully the designs turn out well. Fans can only hope that the collaboration between Gucci and The North Face is released sometime in late 2020 or early 2021.
