Pi’erre Bourne Is Shaking Things Up With The Life of Pi’erre 4 Deluxe

The Life of Pi’erre 4

Regarded as the album of Summer 2019 by many rap fans, The Life of Pi’erre 4 (often abbreviated as TLOP 4) catapulted Pi’erre Bourne further into the spotlight. The album got to the ears of rap superstars like Kanye West and Drake, both of whom he ended up working with following its release. Almost a year later, Pi’erre Bourne is back with the deluxe version of TLOP 4

Bourne had been teasing the deluxe version for some time, talking about it on social media and continuously feeding fans information. Released on June 19th, 2020, The Life of Pi’erre 4 (Deluxe) features 15 new tracks. Although there are only 15 new tracks, with the addition of the original project, this bulks the tracklist up to 31 tracks in total. This may turn some listeners away who are unsure of how many new tracks there actually are. Nevertheless, The Life of Pi’erre 4 (Deluxe) is a nice addition to Bourne’s discography. continues Bourne’s The Life of Pi’erre series, which began with the first TLOP installment back in 2016. It picks up where The Life of Pi’erre 4 left off, keeping up the themes of relationship struggles, good times, and reflection of the past and present situations Pi’erre has been through.

The 15 additional tracks are a treat to fans, as many of them had been previewed by Bourne in the past. “Purple Genes” was sort-of released in 2018, being uploaded to platforms as the track “Family Matters,” albeit with one less verse. The tracks “Fortune Cookie” and “Deja Vu” were previewed on social media as “Marty McFly” and “For Me” respectively. As for the rest of the tracks, Bourne gave fans a lot of input in choosing the tracklist, engaging with them on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. Regardless of the difference in sounds, Pi’erre tweaked some songs in order to make the deluxe version of the album flow seamlessly.

Out of the 15 tracks, “4L” and “Sossboy” especially stand out. Both of them feature bouncy, thumping production, with Bourne’s performances on both tracks being accentuated by his sound. On “4L,” he reflects on his current position in life, rapping about his fame and riches, as well as what it took for him to get there. “Sossboy” features psychedelic and funky production from Bourne, who layers his voice in a way that accentuates the entrancing beat. His overall sound is especially prevalent on the deluxe version of TLOP 4, especially with the transitions. They are seamless, which is the result of continuous improvement since the first TLOP tape.

Pi’erre has perfected his sound with the deluxe version of The Life of Pi’erre 4; he knows it better than anyone else. Despite the difference in tracks, Pi’erre Bourne still manages to blend them together to create one coherent project. Picking up where the original album left off, The Life of Pi’erre 4 (Deluxe) is definitely looking to be one of the better albums of summer 2020, at least so far. It is a fun listen at the end of the day, and sounds better the more you listen to it. With Pi’erre doing all of the work, it gives him complete creative control, opening the door for him to bring his vision for the project to life in his own image.
