McDonald’s has been one of the biggest fast food chains in the past few decades—it feels as if they are everywhere. Due to its popularity, celebrities have used this as a way to capitalize, including Michael Jordan and Travis Scott. Now, J Balvin is joining that list with his new celebrity meal.
For those who are unaware, J Balvin is a Colombian-reggaeton singer who is often referred to as the “Prince of Reggaeton.” He is one of the best-selling Latin musicians in the world, with hit songs such as “Mi Gente” and “Ginza.” He is beloved by many, and McDonald’s has decided to team up with him to give fans what they want.
The new J Balvin Meal was released on October 5th, just a day after the Travis Scott collaboration meal ended. Prices vary depending on the location, but the meal is the same everywhere. It consists of a Big Mac, fries with ketchup, and an Oreo McFlurry. If you order the meal through the McDonald’s app, you can snag the Oreo McFlurry for free. Although the free McFlurry is only available through the app, the meal is available for carry-out and via the drive-thru.
When speaking about the new J Balvin Meal, McDonald’s U.S. chief marketing officer, Morgan Flatley, said “He’s always been a regular at McDonald’s restaurants during his concert tours, and now we’re excited to bring his go-to order to our menus across the U.S.” According to the company, more surprises are on the way (in the next few weeks) from McDonald’s and J Balvin.
Before the Travis Scott meal, a celebrity meal had not been released since Michael Jordan’s collaboration with McDonald’s in 1992, so it seems as if celebrity meals are proving to be a success. If J Balvin’s celebrity meal sees the same amount of success as Travis Scott—which caused an ingredient shortage at certain locations—who knows what other celebrity meals we will see in the next few months.
