COVID-19 screeched our society to a halt, sending everyone inside and keeping them there in the wake of the pandemic. As U.S. President Joe Biden works to usher out COVID vaccines across the country, it seems like things are finally coming to a close. With more and more people getting vaccinated, Chicago-based video production company, Lyrical Lemonade, is preparing to host their annual Summer Smash festival.
The festival is scheduled to span from August 20th to 22nd, bringing fans an extra day from 2019’s June 29th and 30th. The festival was supposed to take place on June 27th and 28th of last year, but the pandemic led to its cancellation.
At the time of this being written, a lineup has not yet been revealed. Despite this, General Admission presale tickets, which went on sale earlier this month, quickly sold out alongside VIP 3-Day passes. Not much is known about this year’s Summer Smash festival, but we can expect more information to arrive this summer due to its late start date.
Hopefully as the year goes on, we see lower COVID-19 rates in the area, and with the speed in which Illinois has been getting its citizens vaccinated, that will likely be the case. Even though Illinois’ citizens have been getting vaccinated, out-of-towners may still ramp up the transmission rate for the area (the virus most likely will not be completely contained by then).
