Nav is Closing Out 2020 With His New Mixtape ‘Emergency Tsunami’

Produced By Wheezy

Nav has been a fairly average rapper since his debut in the mid-2010s. This isn’t to say that his music is bad, but aside from his debut mixtape, he wasn’t bringing much newness to the table. Now, after teaming up with producer Wheezy for his new mixtape, Emergency Tsunami, Nav seems to have broken that trend.

Released on November 6th, Emergency Tsunami consists of 14 tracks and features artists such as Lil Baby, Young Thug, and Lil Keed. Emergency Tsunami follows the release of his Brown Boy 2 album, and the deluxe version of Good Intentions (also releasing earlier this year). Whereas Brown Boy 2 received mixed reviews from fans, due to its length and lack of diversity, they are praising Emergency Tsunami (so far).

On this album, Nav is backed by production from Wheezy, who helps strengthen the Canadian-rapper’s sound with bold and brash beats. Tracks such as “Young Wheezy” featuring Gunna and “Don’t Need Friends” featuring Lil Baby are filled with heavy 808s and distorted kicks. When these tracks are coupled with decent bars from featured rappers, it makes for a fun listen. Check out the full tracklist below.

  1. “Breaking News Intro”
  2. “Friends & Family”
  3. “Young Wheezy” feat. Gunna
  4. “Nasty”
  5. “Repercussions” feat. Young Thug
  6. “Vetement Socks”
  7. “Don’t Need Friends” feat. Lil Baby
  8. “Make It Right Back”
  9. “Trains” feat. Lil Keed
  10.  “Do Ya Deed” feat. Sahbabii
  11.  “Droppin Tears”
  12.  “Modest”
  13.  “Turn & Twist”
  14.  “Breaking News Outro”

While this record isn’t anything special, it’s still a fun listen. It features your typical, modern trap sound, which creates an exciting listen (for his caliber) when coupled with Nav’s nasally-Toronto cadence. Unfortunately, it doesn’t bring anything new to the table; yet, if you’re a fan of Nav, you will find yourself enjoying Emergency Tsunami
