Nike Air Force 1 High “Mars Yard” Draws Inspiration From Tom Sachs Shoe

Nike Air Force 1 High "Mars Yard"

Nike has been on a roll, especially when it comes to the Air Force 1. As of late, the Air Force 1 has been one of Nike’s biggest sneaker models—if you haven’t noticed, most sneakerheads and casual wearers own them. With such popularity, Nike is now paying homage to an additional model, revealing the upcoming Nike Air Force 1 High “Mars Yard.”

The Nike Air Force 1 High “Mars Yard,” which is a women’s exclusive, draws inspiration from the Tom Sachs sneaker of the same name, utilizing the same color palette to pay homage to the exclusive shoe. The Air Force 1 rendition features a peach/tan upper with egg white undertones. These soft tones are complemented by crimson red (seen on the Nike swoosh and other branding sections of the shoe). The laces match the egg white undertones, working to blend in with them on the tongue. The nylon strap is made of the same peach tone as the upper, taking on a rugged, workwear-oriented look. Mid-gray tones are seen in the toe box, offsetting the other colors of the shoe.

Although a release date has not been set for this women’s exclusive, it is expected to drop sometime later this year. The shoe has a retail price of $100 USD, making it much more affordable than the OG Mars Yard (those resell for thousands of dollars). The price tag is average for the Air Force 1 silhouette—perhaps Nike did not want to turn away its core customers with a sticker shock.

It’s nice to see Nike show love to one of their biggest, most attractive sneakers through another popular silhouette (in the past, some Air Force 1 colorways ended up just being generic). Now, we just have to wait on the release date.
