Collaborations between staple streetwear brands and high fashion companies have often resulted in some fun takes on classic pieces (think: Dior and Air Jordan). As the year ushers into the colder months, we are beginning to see an uptick in collaborations, including Prada’s new take on the Adidas Forum Low.
We first got wind of this collaboration thanks to A$AP Rocky, who teased a pair of the sneakers on his Instagram back in early September. Since Prada and Adidas teamed up, in the past, on the Superstar, seeing the combined take on the Forum Low is no surprise.
Whereas the traditional Adidas Forum Low has a trefoil logo, Prada’s rendition refrains from using the logo. Instead, it opts for an almost bare, all white leather upper (only protruding outlines help to differentiate each section). These outlines are seen on the back ankle, the midsection and three-stripe logo, creating a sleek look that is accentuated by the miniature bag over the laces. The bag features a metallic Prada logo in the center. Prada branding is also seen protruding from the tongue, matching the Adidas logo on the midsole.
The Prada x Adidas Forum Low is a great catalog entry for both brands. The simple-yet-elegant outlines on the sneaker inspire a refreshing look for Adidas, while the Prada bag, on the laces, serves as a stamp for the collaboration. The Forum Low has always been an attractive sneaker; Prada putting its touches on it only helps to elevate the look.
It always feels as if the best sneakers have a mythical status, which is mostly due to the unconfirmed release information and lowkey promotion. The Prada x Adidas Forum Low is no stranger to this, with crisp promotion photos and no hint of a release date or price. Hopefully we’re able to see information surface within the next few months. This is definitely one collab release we’ll keep on the radar.
