Sneaker Review: Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star

If You're On The Fence About Buying A Pair, Look No Further!

converse review

There’s no doubt that the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star is a classic. Released back in 1923, the All-Star shoe has always been a staple in the streetwear community. They come in a plethora of colors and match with practically any outfit. Let’s take a look at the classic sneaker and dive into the elements that have kept it around for so long.

The Chuck Taylor All-Star consists of a canvas upper, a solid toe cap, and a rubber sole. On each colorway, there is a signature All-Star branding on the ankle with red and blue lettering. The sneaker’s design is simple, keeping a solid color throughout a majority of the sneaker. This makes for a great look when paired with the right outfit. Whether it be a pair of jeans and a denim jacket or a pair of chinos and a sweater, All-Stars will fit right in. The shoe’s simple canvas upper can be matched with a top of the same color and a pair of contrasting pants. The minimalist look of the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star helps it work with any type of style, depending on the colorway. While the shoe melds well with different looks, the overall comfort holds it back.

One bad thing about the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star is that it runs big. If you were to order your regular size, you would be shocked when you receive a pair of clown shoes at your doorstep. If you plan on buying a pair, make sure to order a full size down for a proper experience. When worn, the sneaker feels a bit tight at first, especially with the high tongue and laces. It takes some breaking into, but once the shoe adjusts to your foot a bit, it isn’t bad to wear.

The Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star is a great sneaker and a classic for a reason. Throughout the years, the shoe has seen minimal changes. The canvas upper allows for a solid color throughout, matching well with plenty of looks (no matter the year). It sits at a solid 4/5 rating — despite the great design, the slight comfort issues hold it back from being the perfect sneaker. It is still one to write home about, especially with a retail price of $55.00 USD.
