A new “Shattered Backboard” colorway seems to have become a yearly tradition for the brand, as seen with the countless new upgrades and renditions of the colorway on silhouettes like the Air Jordan 1 High and Low. The brand is keeping up this tradition with the unveiling of their upcoming Air Jordan 5 “Shattered Backboard.”
This rendition of the “Shattered Backboard” utilizes a sail color to brighten the Air Jordan 5 upper, which stretches from the toe box and midsole, all the way to the tongue. Near the shoe’s foot opening, mesh replaces the leather to create contrasting textures. The traditional elements of the “Shattered Backboard” appear on the outskirts of the shoe, as well as throughout the branding. The midsole is dressed in a mixture of orange and black, both of which spice things up with the help of the oreo-patterned accent within the orange section. The tongue’s Jordan logo is dressed in orange while the back ankle takes on black.
The Air Jordan 5 “Shattered Backboard” is a great entry in the “Shattered Backboard” catalog, creating the perfect colorway for the upcoming season. It brings light colors together with bold colors to create a look that pays homage to the OG “Shattered Backboard” design without copying it completely. You’d think that with the amount of renditions in the “Shattered Backboard” catalog, Jordan would run out of ideas, but this latest one shows that the brand still has a deep bag of tricks.
