The Voice — Adam Levine Receives Massive Backlash Over DeAndre Nico Speech

Did you just see what we saw? We could hear a pin drop during the Instant Save speech!

On Tuesday’s episode of The Voice, coach Adam Levine ended up having two performers hangin’ out at the bottom (out of three) fighting for America’s vote. Both DeAndre Nico and Reagan Strange were awaiting their fate along with Blake Shelton‘s crooner, Dave Fenley. Here’s the twist, Reagan was not able to perform as she was feeling “too sick” during the Instant Save. She ended up watching from the bleachers (in the audience) with misty-teary eyes. Nonetheless, the audience was informed that America could still vote to save her. What?!?

Dave ended up performing first with his version of “Amazed,” and DeAndre sang “All of Me” right after. Both sang their hearts out and were clearly hoping for the best on such an important night. As the camera panned to the coaches, the encouragement could be felt. Yet, everyone was waiting for Levine to throw in his two cents during this tough night! What he did next was shocking!

Levine spent most of the allotted time “stumping” for Reagan and carving out precious minutes from DeAndre’s airtime. Yes, he praised DeAndre for his performance…but there was a huge elephant in the room. It was clear Levine was telling America, in a “not so subtle” way, to vote for Reagan.

“There is an unbelievably talented little girl right now who is not able to fight for her position on this show,” he said, mentioning that he has two daughters himself. “The thought of breaking her heart by not urging everyone to give this girl a shot to go and redeem herself next week would be too far beneath me.” He goes on to say, “I love you, I appreciate what you’ve done tonight. Honestly, I think you should both be there [in the semifinals], but I gotta go for my girl.” Levine was literally “begging” voters to vote for Reagan so that she could prove herself next week. WHAT?!

In those moments, America got to witness the hurt come over DeAndre’s face. It looked and felt like he just got gutted.

Cue the internet erupting (and rightfully so). People took to Twitter, Instagram and other social media to participate in, what felt like, one big therapy session — check out the comments under some of these posts! We are super sure NBC will be doing overtime cleaning and deleting the backlash!
