Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame, the X-Men franchise, and other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Endgame just hit theaters two weekends ago and it blew moviegoers away, shattering box office records and making grown men cry. The movie was great and tied many different things together including Captain America moving Thor’s hammer in Avengers: Age of Ultron and using it in the final battle against Thanos as well as Tony Stark finally “being able to rest” after years of stress and anxiety. Although Endgame seems like the perfect place to end things for the MCU, Marvel is taking the franchise into phase 4! The brand has a lineup of movies scheduled to release in the upcoming future, both in the MCU and other universes. Although some of the upcoming movies still do not have confirmed dates, they are scheduled to release around the reported times.

The upcoming Marvel movies list is as follows:

Dark Phoenix (6/7/19)

(X-Men Universe)

Dark Phoenix follows Jean Grey, Charles Xavier, and the rest of the X-Men (aside from Wolverine) after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse. In this film, Jean Grey has to come to terms with her powers and betrayal from the X-Men. The trailer doesn’t reveal much, aside from the fact that Professor Xavier possibly wiped Jean’s mind after she caused the car accident that killed her parents and that there’s a funeral present.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (7/5/19)

(Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Taking place soon after Avengers Endgame, this action-packed sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming has our friendly neighborhood webhead facing off against Mysterio, Hydro-Man, Molten Man, and other classic Spider-Man villains during a class field trip to Europe. On top of this, he has to also deal with the stress that comes along with being a teenager and his love interest’s (Mary Jane) classmate. The film features Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as Mary Jane, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and previous Marvel actors reprising their roles.

The New Mutants (8/2/19)

(X-Men Universe)

The final installment in the X-Men franchise is darker than most! It’s set as a horror film that follows a group of young, captured mutants that must fight to survive and escape not only the facility at which they are being held but their own past demons as well. The New Mutants stars Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes, the group’s mentor and medical doctor who can generate a protective bio-field around herself, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin aka Magik: a Russian mutant with the powers of sorcery, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar aka Mirage: a Native American mutant who can draw the innermost desires and fears out of someone’s mind and bring them to life through the form of a mirage, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball: a mutant from Kentucky who can propel himself through the air like a missile and is invulnerable while doing so, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot: a Brazilian mutant who can manipulate solar energy, and Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair aka Wolfsbane: a Scottish mutant who’s can transform into a wolf.

Gambit (3/13/20)

(X-Men Universe)

This film has been in the works since early 2014, but due to rewrites, new directors coming in and out as well as other issues, it has been set to release in 2020. It follows the mutant Remy LeBeau aka Gambit, a mutant thief from New Orleans with the ability to create, control, and manipulate kinetic energy. Although we don’t know much else about this upcoming film, we do know that Channing Tatum will star as Gambit.

Black Widow (2020)

(Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Black Widow has been a staple in the MCU since 2010 with her debut in Iron Man 2, and after her death in Avengers Endgame, she was immortalized as one of the most strong-willed women on the big screen. So much so that a solo Black Widow film has been in development for the past few years. Many details have not been revealed about this film, but Marvel confirmed that Jac Schaeffer wrote the script and Cate Shortland will be directing. It has been speculated to be a prequel due to the character’s death.

The Eternals (2020)

(Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Not much is known about this film, but Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel has plans for it. The studio hired Chloe Zhao to direct and it is rumored that Angelina Jolie will star, along with Kumail Nanjiani. In the Marvel comic books, the Eternals are a group of superhuman immortal beings created by the Celestials, who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as the gold people. The Eternals possess powers of matter manipulation, flight, telepathy, and more as well as being one of the Earth’s lines of defense.

Other movies are also reportedly in the works! Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have not been given any release dates in particular (and surely not releasing anytime soon). The Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to send fans flocking to the movies. With phase 3 of the MCU wrapping up soon, it is truly exciting to see what they have coming up.
