In the last year, the trend of celebrities collaborating with restaurants and fast food brands has seen a major resurgence. What started as a collaborative meal between Travis Scott and McDonald’s has now become almost commonplace, with artists such as Saweetie, J Balvin and BTS putting a spin on their own celebrity meals. Although celebrities have often stuck with McDonald’s, Megan Thee Stallion has taken it a step further with Popeyes by partnering with the food giant on a new Hottie Sauce as well as various pieces of merchandise.
We first got news of the collaboration in mid-October, just a few days before the official launch on October 19th. Spearheading this collaboration is Megan’s signature Hottie Sauce, which is a custom sauce made of a mixture of Aleppo pepper, cider vinegar and honey. Commercials and promotional content say the sauce is best when dipped in the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich, which Meg herself vouches for in a Mukbang video posted promoting the collaboration.
Alongside the Hottie Sauce, this collaboration boasts a host of unisex merch: (1) a neon, drip-cropped tee, (2) a unisex tee reading “It’s Lit,” (3) a saucy unisex, long-sleeve tee, (4) an extra-hot bikini, (5) a neon-drip tumbler, and (6) a 4OEs, 3-piece plush toy (along with possible ‘animegan’ and new nostalgia pieces).
Although we personally have not gotten a chance to try the new Hottie Sauce, food reviewers are enjoying it. YouTube Food Reviewer Daym Drops describes the sauce as “a savory, respective heat in the game,” which is great to hear considering some people may not have a high spice tolerance. With sauces seemingly getting hotter and hotter, it is good to know that Megan Thee Stallion and Popeyes have found a sweet spot to satisfy fans.
